Psychoanalysis?in?the?21st?century:?polymorphic?science?with?a?paradigmatic?quality
Abstract
In the 20th century, analytic philosophers and positivistic thinkers interpreted psychoanalysis as an unscientific or pseudoscientific activity. Even today, philosophical critics do not understand contemporary psychoanalysis as a scientific activity. Just now, constructivist epistemologists enter the current situation of psychoanalytic discussion. However, the “Viennese Constructivists" judge the scientific status of psychoanalysis completely different. In contrast to the well-known traditional philosophical viewpoint on scientific work, they postulate in front of their constructivist background: The method-pluralistic discipline of interpretation called psychoanalysis is totally scientific; moreover, the original methodological situation of psychoanalysis gives a very good example for scientific work in the 21st century. With their special view on science, Viennese Constructivists offer a highly explosive contribution especially to the contemporary disputation about the so-called neuro-psychoanalytic turn. Keywords Psychoanalysis; Constructivism; Philosophy of science; Epistemology
