The Heidelberg model of computer-aided quality assurance: From quality control to quality management of inpatient psychotherapy
Abstract
The GRG (law for reformation of health services) from 1988 commits all suppliers of therapeutic services in Germany to make arrangements for quality assurance. Up to now that task is realized only at few places and for certain service areas. There is still a lack of measurements for producing relevant data and a deficiency in organizational know-how for using these data for quality management.
The main goal of the described project is setting up and evaluating a model of computer aided quality management for inpatient psychotherapy. Considering the technical needs the development of the computer programme was given emphasis. Parallel in time:
- an inventory for routine monitoring,
- an algorithm for assessing therapy results,
- a feedback concept
were developed. The model was adjusted to various areas of the service system - to clinics as well as to rehabilitation centres. Explorative data analysis for 118 cases support the usefulness of QM according to the Heidelberg Model.
