The integration of research into group analytical education and practice: The GRAS study

Authors

  • Bernhard Strauß

Abstract

The introduction of a scientific study related to the effects of group analyses in the context of the “Seminars in Group Analysis ”, a 20 year old educational program in Germany, is described. Starting in the year 1993 the author tried to interest analysts taking part in the seminars for research questions. Following initial resistance, these attempts have led to the conceptualisation of a research study with hypotheses developed by the participants. The study started in 1999 and uses the tremendous research potential that is provided by experienced group psychotherapists in continuing education.

Keywords:
