Abstract

In the years 1994-1996 a psychotherapy effectiveness study was performed in the clinic of Maria Ebene in Feldkirch, Vorarlberg. The main result of this study was a good effectiveness of existential analytical psychotherapy in different realms of state, symptoms, personality, and therapeutic achievement in alcohol abusers. A further outcome criterion was the so-called existential quality of life, which has been developed as a psychological construct, also including the construction of a questionnaire. This article describes the theoretical model and the empirical results concerning the effectiveness of existential analytical therapy in alcohol abusers in terms of existential quality of life.
