Reflections about body work and body experience in analytic body-oriented psychotherapy
Abstract
In opposition to other body-psychotherapies analytic body-oriented psychotherapy puts the transference-countertransference-dynamics in the center of the therapeutic process. On this basis the author attempts to present a systematical approach of body-oriented interventions. He tries to establish the theoretical background and the indications these interventions are based on, and outlines two main fields of body-integration within the therapeutic process: the body as a technical medium and body experience. This leads to potential applications in relation to different therapeutical settings. Results of latest baby research - first of all studies by Daniel Stern -could support a validation of body-oriented interventions in the future.
