Abstract

This pilot study concerns social and health care facilities offering recognized traineeships for the psychotherapeutic Propadeutikum. In semistructured interviews 31 managers of such traineeship facilities, mainly located in the eastern part of Austria, were asked about their experiences with Propadeutikum candidates. The following aspects were highlighted in the survey: tasks accomplished by trainees, reasons for and against the admission of trainees, satisfaction of trainees with facilities, and improvements, as suggested by facilities. Based on the results obtained, ways to optimize traineeships were discussed together with the Propadeutikum candidates. In order to capture their concerns with greater accuracy, a follow-up study is required to evaluate overall conditions from the trainees' point of view.
