Abstract

With the aid of a case report it will be shown in which way typical bio-psycho-social burdens of elderly interfere with each other. Especially the occurrence of accumulative losses and inner-psychic experience of loss with reduced repression of death lead to the destabilization of present arrangements. Then, psychotherapy is needed to prevent regression and dependence. The lack of supply of elderly with psychotherapy may be assigned to insufficient transfer to psychotherapy and low acceptance of elderly into psychotherapy. Psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral considerations as well as particularities within the psychotherapy of elderly will be described.
