To which extent does the sociometric position in the therapeutical group influence the patient’s subjective assessment?
Abstract
According to the model of the ward of inpatient short-time psychotherapy at the hospital Hall in Tyrol, the patients undergo an eight-week programme of psychodramatic group therapy as an essential part of their therapy. Comparing the quantitative sociometric status with the individual patients' subjective assessments (N = 114), it was evident that the sociometric position in the therapeutical group definitely influences the individual patient's assessment: the more votes obtained the higher or better is the subjective assessment of the success of the therapy, and vice versa, the lower the sociometric status the smaller is the assessment of the success of the treatment. These clear results make it advisable to consider this increasingly practically as well as theoretically.Key words:
Psychodrama; Sociometry; Group psychotherapy; Rank dynamics; Success of treatment; Inpatient psychotherapy.
