Abstract

Myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME)/Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) – encoded in the ICD-10 under G93.3 – is a severe chronic neuroimmunological multisystemic disease. The cause is still unknown. This article provides therapists with advice and suggestions for their practical work with patients suffering from ME/CFS. In addition, the article points out special features of the clinical picture and discusses possible dangers in psychotherapeutically oriented work.

Marie-Christine Hartlieb ist Absolventin des Lehrgangs für Musiktherapie an der Musikhochschule Wien (heutige Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst) und war als Musiktherapeutin und Psychotherapeutin in Ausbildung unter Supervision in unterschiedlichen Arbeitsfeldern (Kinder und Jugendliche, Geriatrie, Psychiatrie, intellektuelle Behinderung) tätig.
