Abstract

Body-psychotherapeutic modalities have been reluctant to develop treatment procedures for specific disorders, because their basic philosophy stresses the uniqueness of individuals and the interactive complexity of the therapeutic dyad. Nevertheless, there exist specific body-psychotherapeutic elements, whose application can be recommended for burnout therapy, based on clinical experience. They are a) an interactive and body-oriented conception of the therapeutic relationship, b) the enhancement of awareness, regulation, expression and communication of emotion especially anger and rage, c) working with destructive and dismissive subpersonalities, especially their embodiment, d) body oriented interventions and exercises and e) watching and influencing the energetic flow and metabolism of patients.
