Does THE Psychotherapy exist?
Abstract
This paper is a contribution to the scientific foundation of psychotherapy. First, the author underscores the role of theoretical and existential presuppositions in the scientific construction of all psychotherapeutic methods. He proposes a procedure to explicit them in order to have a better scientific exchange between psychotherapists. Secondly, he insists on the necessity of empirical psychotherapy research, but points out the limits of empirical psychology’s epistemology, which tends to impose a unique way of validation. Keywords Psychotherapy research, epistemology, scientific validation, presupposition.Downloads
