Psychopolitics of the crisis

Abstract

The social and economic crisis is described as expression of the neoliberal development in society. This development has pervaded all social fields. This intensifies the alienation and the devaluation of the individual as well as of important social res-sources like knowledge, ability and critical reflection. The author warns to discuss aspects of human behaviour like greediness as an absolute motivation. The theory of the psychopathic personality, described by Alexander Lowen, helps to describe specific patterns of behaviour and to evaluate the crisis. A specific sign of this pattern of behaviour is the lack of feeling, the lack of feeling for the other and of self- reflection. Instead ofthis fixation on power, gran-diosity and addiction is to be seen. The role und function of psycho-therapists is critically discussed.
