Abstract

By describing the progress of a psychotherapy with a traumatized refugee, I show my way of doing traumatherapy. For this case, it was psychodrama psychotherapy in individual setting (monodrama) with a translator. Much attention is given to ways of stabilizing the client's psyche. Because of stressing factors in the environment, stabilization is continued throughout the therapy. Several stabilization techniques of psychodrama are described, most prominently that of the “safe place". By means of the “social atom", the net of the client's relations with other persons is examined. After outlining some essential aspects of therapy with trauma survivors,

I describe the trauma exposition with the client.
