Psychotherapy Science: Hamburg round of discussions on the theme “psychotherapy on the way to becoming an independent science?”
Abstract
Summary: The aim of this discussion was to establish psychotherapists’ views with regard to the theme “Psychotherapy on the way to becoming an autonomous science”, with a group who are not specifically immersed with this theme. All four interview partners are working in the field of lecturing, research and practice. We, as members of the PTW Editorial Committee, wished to bring this debate to the attention of our ASP/Charta members and to stimulate a wider group of readers. We explored the question: What is the position of psychotherapy as an autonomous science? Can by researching the practice of a healing art, lead to an autonomous scientific discipline? Yes, it is that already. Over the past 10 years various universities offer direct study courses in PTW (Psychotherapy Science). What are the various facets, what are the advantages and potential disadvantages of such vocational training? We are talking about the various facets of the advantages and possible disadvantages of a desired, as well as essential modern educational route for our profession.Downloads
