Various research findings support the thesis that the majority of therapists exercise an integrative approach in practice. Based on this assumption, this article analysed commonalities in therapeutic attitudes and the application of therapeutic techniques between therapists from different schools based on audio recordings of therapy sessions. The analysis was based on two random samples of 108 and 162 sessions from therapies that were part of the »Practice Study Outpatient Psychotherapy – Switzerland«. The audio recordings of the sessions were analysed using either the Psychotherapy Process Q-Set or the PAP-S-Rating-Manual. Both instruments showed significant similarities in the actions and attitudes of therapists practising different types of psychotherapy. Furthermore, it was found that for the type of interventions used, which were observed in each group of therapists, emotion-related interventions were by far the most commonly used. Interventions that target behavioural or subconscious aspects came in second and third place. Even special techniques, such as body-related or art- and expression-oriented interventions, could be observed in each group.Downloads
