The statement that «schizophrenia» does not exist does not deny the existence of people with very unusual or complex experiences who suffer from extreme despair and confusion. This article is concerned with two other questions: (a) Does «schizophrenia» fulfil commonly accepted scientific criteria for providing evidence for the existence of a concept (reliability)? And (b): Is «schizophrenia» useful, that is, does the construct contribute anything to understanding or predicting (validity)?Downloads
