Fehler machen - aus Fehlern lernen? - Perspektiven zur Klassifizierung von psychotherapeutischen Fehlern und dem Umgang damit
Abstract
Over the last years the focus of psychotherapy research shifted to unwanted and side effects of psychotherapy. For that purpose a multy-method study on the topic „Risks, Damages and Side Effects of psychotherapy“ was carried out at the department of psychotherapy at the Danube University Krems in 2008-2011. In this paper a classification of different kinds of faults based on data of clients’ complaints and data from focus-groups with experts of all psychotherapeutic methods in Austria is presented. Faults range from everyday omissions, failings in difficult situations to malpractice and ethical misconduct – whereas the extent of damage probably increases with the severity of the fault. Three kinds of dealing with faults by the therapists - resulting from therapist personality and kind of fault, are described.
