Abstract

The participants agreed that in the work with patients who suffer from somatoform disorders the aim could not be to heal these people but to help them gaining a better quality of life. The attitude ofthe medical practitioners and the psychotherapists was seen as very important, to appreciate the patient and to take seriously what he or she says and wants. But also the social and the political aspects of these illnesses should be considered in the treatment of these patients.
