Self Assessment of Professional Competences by Graduates of the "Psychotherapeutisches Propadeutikum"

Abstract

This study deals with subjective ratings concerning professional competences by psychotherapeutical aspirants. 165 postgradual students at the end of the psychotherapeutical curriculum were asked to answer the preliminary version of our questionnaire.

The first part of the questionnaire deals with elements of the training which were considered most important (e.g. theoretical and practical sections, selfexperience, supervision). In the following part the aspirants should specify, which aims they will emphasize in their future work. Finally the impact of different factors of the therapeutic curriculum on the individual development was explored.

All these different aspects were analysed for the complete sample first, while in a second run data were compared assigning the aspirants to different groups on basis of their preferred therapy orientation. It also was taken into account wh ether the candidates had own experience in psychotherapy yet or not. Another analysis was done comparing the competences of the sample at the actual state of knowledge with the conceived competences of an imaginary ideal psychotherapist.
