Summary
Inpatient rehabilitation at an advanced level offers the patient a multimodal program of therapeutic treatment. At all levels of treatment, specialists from many disciplines are brought together to help patients progress. Through a collaborative approach, each team focuses on helping patients meet their individual goals. Psychotherapy plays an indispensable role in such a modern rehabilitation setting. At the onset of the paper, a summary of the recent development and significance of inpatient rehabilitation is given. As a rehabilitation process continues, information is generated by professionals diagnosing and treating patients on a continual level. In this paper, a model is conceptualized as a synopsis of this information acquired during the rehabilitation process. Some benefits as well as pitfalls of such a model are mentioned. A case example shows the complex interactions of interdisciplinary team work and demonstrates the importance of providing comprehensive biopsychosocial psychotherapy in rehabilitation.
